‘Progress’ Potter Co. Farm Tour Observes 25th Anniversary

gccreamery1gccreamery21A Potter County tradition, the Progress Through Communications Farm Tour and Picnic, observed its 25th anniversary last week with more than 100 participants. It opened with a tour of the cheese-making operation near Ulysses, God’s Country Creamery (shown), operated by the Bachman family. Next stop was Northern Potter High School, where the spotlight was on some innovative agricultural research plots and related programs. Final event was a roundtable discussion about issues affecting agriculture and an informal picnic, during which awards were presented. Winners were as follows: Conservationist of the Year, Roy Thompson; Service to Agriculture, Phil Lehman; Dairies of Distinction, Roger and Rhoda Lent and Four Winds Farm; Take Pride in America, Don and Cathy Thompson; Educator of the Year, God’s Country Chapter, Trout Unlimited; Partner of the Year, Williams Energy Services; Henry Staiger Award (FFA/Coudersport), Haley Wilson; Robert Barnett Award (FFA/Northern Potter), Paula Plumstead.
