Allegheny River Expected to Crest in Olean, Salamanca

Flood watch in effect for the the Allegheny river at Olean and at Salamanca

From this morning to Friday afternoon.

At 3 am Wednesday the stage was 7.9 feet and rising. Flood stage is 10.0 feet.

Minor flooding is forecast. The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this morning and crest near 14.9 feet early Thursday afternoon. At 15.0 feet…there is moderate flooding. Water could affect Riverview School of Aviation, 1.5 miles upstream of Union Street bridge. Local flooding could also occur in areas unprotected by dikes, including portions of Portville upstream.
