Actor Andy Griffith passed away this morning in his Dare County, NC, home, according to media reports.
Born in Mt. Airy, N.C., Griffith starred as Sheriff Andy Taylor in The Andy Griffith Show, which aired on CBS from 1960-1968. Ron Howard, cast as Opie in the show, played his son.
Griffith also starred as Ben Matlock in the hit television series Matlock, which aired from 1986-1995.
