HARRISBURG – Republican lawmakers in Pennsylvania aim to outlaw teacher strikes with a series of bills which will be voted on later this year.
Proponents of the legislation argue that taxpayers ultimately suffer when teachers strike, as it can substantially increase school taxes, while teachers stand to lose little while striking.
They also say that in a state holding the unenviable title as the ‘Teacher Strike Capital of the United State,” the law would protect students and afford them an opportunity to receive a free and uninterrupted education.
The STRIKE-FREE Education Act calls for any teacher striking to lose two days of pay per day on strike, with stiffer penalties, including fines up to $5,000, for event organizers.

Sounds good to me. If they’re going to compel children to attend school, then the same should hold true for teachers.
