The McKean County Conservation District and the Penn State Cooperative Extension are sponsoring a Cover Crop Field Day being held on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at the 911 Center in Smethport. The session will start at 1:00 PM and is targeted toward those individuals needing hands-on information on Cover Crops and No-Till Systems.

Topics of discussion will include Potential of No-Till Systems in McKean and Potter Counties with No-Till Consultant Joel Myers and Cover Crops and Alternative Crops in Cold Climates by Penn State Cooperative Extension Educator Bill Waltman.  The day will also include a field discussion on No-Till, Planters, Cover Crops and Soils.   There is a $5.00 fee, which includes refreshments and materials.  Participants are asked register by contacting the McKean County Conservation District at 814-887-4001 or sdthompson@mckeancountypa.org by March 31, 2011.

Financial and other support for this project is provided by the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection under Section 319 of the Clean Water Act, administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Penn State is committed to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and the diversity of its workforce.
