Darvon (Darvocet) Painkiller to be Pulled from Market

WASHINGTON – Drug manufacturer Xanodyne will halt marketing of Darvon and related Darvocet brand drugs amid pressure from public health officials.

The FDA is also putting pressure on other drug manufacturers to halt production of generic versions of the drug.

Britain banned Darvon several years ago due to accidental overdoses and reports of suicide.

The drug is reportedly responsible for several hundred deaths per year.
