Volunteer fire companies and ambulance services throughout Pennsylvania are eligible to apply for funds under the Emergency Services Grant Program. Grants may be used for construction or renovation, the purchase or repair of equipment, training or debt reduction. During the last decade, $3.2 million has been awarded to about 40 volunteer fire and ambulance companies in Cameron, McKean and Potter counties. The program is funded through state-licensed gambling proceeds. The application period closes on Friday, Oct. 19. Information is available on the internet at www.osfc.state.pa.us.
