COUDERSPORT – A Ulysses man is dead following an accident on the east side of Denton Hill this morning, according to Sweden Township Police Chief Bryan Phelps.

Forty-six-year-old Clarence Dubs, Jr., of Telescope Road, Ulysses Township, was struck by a truck driven by 56-year-old Roger Smith, of Erma, NJ.

Smith, who was driving a 2006 Chevy pickup truck, lost control while driving in the right lane, crossed the center lane, and then struck Dubs 2001 Chevy Blazer head-on.

Dubs was pronounced dead at the scene by Potter County Deputy Coroner Ken Wingo.

Smith was transported to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries. His condition is reported to be stable.

The accident closed down two lanes of Route 6 for an extended period of time while authorities reconstructed the accident.
