Erie Soldier Killed in Afghanistan

The Department of Defense confirmed last night that a 20-year-old Erie man was killed while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan on January 12, 2011.

Spc. Jarrid L. King was one of three soldiers killed after insurgent forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.

King was assigned to the 7th Engineer Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.
