Galeton Teacher Arrested for Having Sexual Contact with Two Students

Former Galeton PE Teacher, Kimberly Lake Smith, accused sexual predator

GALETON – A Galeton school teacher has been accused of being a sexual predator and arrested on charges she had sexual contact with at least two students while in class.

Kimberly Lake Smith, 36, of Wellsboro, was charged by Galeton Borough Police Chief Christopher Brackman in District Judge Delores G. Bristol’s courtroom last week.

Smith, who is accused of allowing two 17-year-old boys to touch her inappropriately, was charged with one third-degree felony count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of Intimidating a Witness and two counts of Corruption of Minors.

A criminal complaint alleges Smith allowed two boys to touch her genitals while they stayed behind in her classroom. The complaint also accuses Smith of fondling one of the boys.

The complaint filed by Chief Brackman states that Smith has engaged in similar conduct with other students throughout her career, citing unspecified documents.

Smith, who has been a physical education teacher in Galeton since 1999, was released on $35,000 bail. She is currently on suspension from the school.

A Preliminary Hearing has been scheduled for June 1.

    I am a graduate of GHS and I will say that this is nothing new with this teacher! I can’t believe that it has taken so long for parents and the school administrators to stand up and do the right thing! And honestly, just because your 18 it does not mean you have an adult mindset and should be pursued by your teacher.

    ok, great, she was caught, made the news….. but what about the couple from Galeton who did worse, he is now in jail, but nothing has been done to her.?.?.?.?.? These 2 “people” walked free for a year? then he gets a slap on the wrist????????? And still to this day, no mention in ANY news sites?

      I live in Galeton and agree,the couple makes me sick!!!! They move out of Galeton to another county and their kids are given back after the state and C&Y take them!!! Really-what is to say these, 2 sick freaks won’t do something to their own kids that I am sure we the tax payers are paying for and why are neither of them on Megan’s law website? Here is another fine example of C&Y not doing their job!!!
      How much you want to bet when he gets out of jail they will have more kids on our tax dollars,since they breed like rabbits!!! The house they lived in Galeton should have been condemned-they let dirty diapers and dog feces all over and their kids lived in that till they were taken!!! Thankfully they moved out of Galeton-I sure do not think someone like that should be around any kids!!!!

        they moved to Elkland to live with his mom. he is currently housed in the Potter County Jail. she just “visited” the Judge Wednesday, and received a “slap” on the wrist…and as far as having more kids, the baby factory was closed down again(never should have been reopened to begin with if you ask me).
        Here is another fine example of C&Y not doing their job!!! but lets not forget about the rest of the system here also!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hope she grows old with the fear of this happening to her kids. Oh, thats right, that is how she has kids, by another one that she has done this with. Are we really living in such a prehistoric world, that it toke this long to do anything to her. Sorry to say, but GASD has known about her doings for at least 6 years, no one is mentioning this fact either. Who knows how many other children there might be that have not spoken up.

    it will definately be interesting to follow these 2 “teachers” court cases, just to see the difference in sentencing between Potter, and Tioga Counties

      The preliminary was waived, I want to know when the actual trial and be in the courtroom. I really hope justice is served in this case! I fear for my son’s safety.
