‘Gasland’ Nominated for Academy Award

‘Gasland’, a documentary by filmmaker Josh Fox, has been nominated for an Academy Award.

The film follows Fox as he raises questions about the safety of hydraulic fracturing, and features Dimock, Susquehanna County, PA residents.

Fox says he hopes the nomination will boost momentum for increased regulation and oversight of the ‘fracking process’.

The nomination has drawn sharp criticism from the gas industry, which has launched a website attempting to debunk Fox’s film.

Fox has refuted the statements contained on that website with his own affirmation of Gasland.

The 83rd Academy Awards will be held on February 27, 2011.
