Joshua Q. Benjamin, 24, of Eldred

Joshua Q. Benjamin, 24 of Barnum Road passed away Sunday (Aug. 7, 2011) from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

He was born Feb. 2, 1987, the son of George E. and Lisa A. Smith Benjamin.

Josh resided in Smethport before moving to Eldred in 2002. He was a 2005 graduate of Otto-Eldred High School and received a degree in business management from Olean (NY) Business Institute in 2009.

He previously worked for Tops Friendly Markets in Bradford and Olean and was currently employed by The Connection in Olean as a customer service representative.

Josh was a past member of the Eldred and Smethport baseball teams, Boy Scout Troop 501 in Smethport and the Lighter Side of Bradford dart team.

He ran cross country and track for Otto-Eldred High School and was a member of the show choir. He loved hunting, fishing and playing his guitar, as well as socializing with his friends and family. He also enjoyed trucks and mudding.

Surviving besides his parents of Eldred are three brothers, Matthew B. (fiancee Alexis Gammaitoni) Benjamin of Peckville, Andrew M. Banjamin and Curtis G. Benjamin, both of Eldred; a sister, Jennifer L. (Jason) Freer of Port Allegany; maternal grandparents, George (Bonnie) Smith of Eldred; maternal great-grandmother, Marjorie Perry of Andover, NY; a niece, Jasmine M. Freer; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by a maternal grandmother, Joyce Smith in 1973; and paternal grandparents, Harold Benjamin in 1973 and Ellen Benjamin in 2000.

Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred. Funeral services will be held Thursday (Aug. 11, 2011) at 11 a.m. at the First Church of God in Eldred, with the Rev. Jim Kazimer, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville, NY.

Memorials may be made to the NRA and the First Church of God in Eldred.
