Causer Loses Galeton; all of Cameron County in Redistricting Plan

67th District loses all of Cameron Co., picks up remainder of McKean Co.

HARRISBURG – As a result of the 2010 Census, a finalized redistricting plan affecting local residents in Pennsylvania’s 67th District, currently represented by Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint), is set to be adopted.

PA’s 67th District previously encompassed Potter County, Cameron County and approximately two-thirds of McKean County. The redistricting plan will remove Cameron County entirely, split Potter County between the 67th and 68th Districts and encompass all of McKean County, which was previously split between the 67th and 65th District, represented by Kathy Rapp (R-Warren). The plan will also add a small portion of southeast Warren County from the 65th to the 67th District.

As a result of the plan, Galeton Borough and the townships of Abbott, Hector, Pike, Stewardson and West Branch will no longer be included in Causer’s 67th District, instead going to the 68th District, currently represented by Matt Baker (R-Wellsboro).

The plan adds Kane and Mt. Jewett in McKean County, and Sheffield in Warren County to the 67th District.

Although no appeals currently exist, Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court Wednesday scheduled  a Jan. 23 precautionary session in Harrisburg in the event an appeal is filed.

According to the Associated Press, the court will revisit the schedule come Jan. 11 if no appeal is entered.
