Coudersport Teen Killed in Crash

Route 49 remains closed near Risser’s Farm

ALLEGANY TWP. – A 16-year-old Coudersport teenager was killed in a crash early this morning.

State Police in Coudersport said 16-year-old Kaleb Bryan Haynes was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Joey C. Osborne, of Coudersport, which crashed at approximately 4:17 am this morning.

Police say Osborne’s car crashed after the passenger’s side tires left the ride side of the roadway. Police said Osborne attempted to correct the car by steering hard to the left, at which point the car traveled sideways across the road, eventually striking a utility pole on the passenger’s side before rotating clockwise and overturning.

The crash happened near Risser’s Farm, East of Coudersport and West of Gold, approximately .8 miles West of Miles Road, according to a police report.

Police said Haynes was pronounced dead at the scene by Potter County Coroner Kevin Dusenbury.

Osbornes suffered serious injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville for treatment.

Route 49 at the crash scene is still closed as utility companies work to repair the damage.

Osborne’s car suffered major damage and was towed by Dave’s Body Shop of Shinglehouse.

Police say the crash remains under investigation.

Coudersport and Tri-Town Fire companies and Ambulance, PennDOT, Verizon Communications, Tri-County Electric and Zito Media assisted at the scene.
