Local Teen Graduates from PSP Program

A Port Allegany teenager is one of 104 teens from across the state who graduated from a week-long program that gave them opportunities to explore careers in the military and law enforcement.

Tyler Smith attended the annual American Legion/State Police Youth Week at York College of Pennsylvania. It was conducted by personnel from State Police, the American Legion and the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

“The cadets, ages 15 to 17, participated in physical training and learned lessons about discipline and leadership,” said State Police Commissioner Frank E. Pawlowski. “They attended sessions teaching them about self-defense, firearms safety, the Pennsylvania Crimes Code, forensic sciences and other topics related to military or police work.”
