Man Choked Fellow IUP Student To Death

INDIANA, PA – Police said an Indiana University of Pennsylvania student killed another while trying to break up a fight.

State police in Indiana County said 21-year-old Mikhail Young got into an argument with a woman Saturday and 19-year-old Yeaseam Nelson tried to break it up by putting Young in a choke hold.

According to police, Nelson said he released Young after he put his hands out to his side. Nelson left the off-campus apartment but returned later to find Young dead.

Nelson, a Philadelphia resident, is being held at the Indiana County jail on charges including criminal homicide and reckless endangerment. It was not clear if he had an attorney.
