2 min read

COUDERSPORT – A Coudersport man has been jailed on $100,000 bail after pulling a knife on a crowd of people, forbidding them to leave and then stealing a car before leading police on a foot chase.

Coudersport-based State Police say George Edward Musto, III, 26, of Coudersport, PA, engaged five victims in a verbal argument at 105 Gordneir Street in the Borough of Coudersport. During the course of the argument Musto is accused of pulling a knife on a crowd of people and refusing to allow them to exit the apartment.

Police say the victims were eventually able to make it outside the apartment and attempted to flee in a vehicle when Musto grabbed the keys and fled the scene in the car.

Musto then traveled to an area on Elk Street, at which point the passenger’s side tire came off the stolen vehicle. Musto then allegedly continued to drive the car without the tire until he parked at 43 Elk Street.

Musto was then captured after a short foot pursuit.

Police say upon investigation they determined him to be DUI.

Musto has been charged with Robbery of Motor Vehicle(F1), 2-counts of Unlawful Restraint(F2), Robbery(F3), 6-counts of Terroristic Threats(M1), 4-counts of Unlawful Restraint(M1), 6-counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person(M2), Unauthorized Use of Automobiles and Other Vehicles(M2), Harassment,(S), Criminal Mischief(S), Public Drunkenness and Similar Misconduct(S), Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Controlled Substance(M), Driving While Opeating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked(M3), Careless Driving(S), Reckless Driving(S), and Restraint Systems(S).

Musto was arraigned in front of District Judge Delroes G. Bristol and jailed in the Potter County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

  1. What is Coudersport coming to?? This is just another to add to the list of illegal activities going on in the town—we had 3 people living in th etown selling drugs last week, another just yesterday, and now this involving such young people…..Coudersport is looking like such a wonderful place to raise a family….

  2. @Webmaster, ******* name should NOT be on here. She is still a minor, 17 years of age. Please remove her name.

Editor’s Note: Some comments have been removed from this article, as well as the name of the person who left the comments. The young female’s name in question has also been obscured by request. The family states that the victim listed was not 18 years of age. Although the official police statement lists the victim’s age as 18, we have edited this article out of courtesy to the victim and family.

  3. Also, worth noting, is that William Krog was not present during the altercation.

Reports indicate the vehicle involved in the incident was registered to Krog.

  4. Does it matter what age the girl was? She was a victim of a crime. Some have protested long and hard that juvenile names should be released to the media, while others, I suspect in an effort to protect their children, protest against citing names. You can’t have it both ways. I am disappointed that a name given in a police report was removed at the request of the family. Have families now reserved the right to censor the news?

  5. Jen,

I share your concerns and do agree with you to an extent.

However, if the person named is indeed a minor, Pennsylvania law does prohibit releasing such information knowingly.

There are instances in which a minor’s information may be released to the public, typically such instances are major crimes such as murder.

In this case, the victim, if indeed less than 18 years of age, does reserve the right to privacy under Pennsylvania statute.

As a side note: my first instinct was to deny the request, but upon review the gentleman requesting the removal of the name did possess valid cause.

  6. Are you “really” a victim when you associate with people like George, I mean this is not his first time getting in trouble, and when you hang out with people like him what do you expect??? Justa thought….

  7. Jay, This is not George’s typical behavior. He only gets like that when he drinks. I know that isn’t an excuse, but George is not this person shown here. He would never ever do something like this sober. He’s a good friend of mine, and it’s because he really is a pretty decent guy when he’s not drinking liquor. And the person named, was a victim, she was traumatized by this incident, was afraid to even be seen in public. If i had a child who was afraid to be seen in public due to an incident that occurred and my child’s name was released, I would not be comfortable with that. And regardless of if she was friends with him, doesn’t make her any less of a victim. After all, most violent crimes that happen to people, are committed by someone that person knows, so it really doesn’t matter if she was friends with him or not. It doesn’t make her or any of the other any less of a victim.
