Merrald S. ‘Bud’ Amos, Jr., 81, of Sunderlinville, PA

Merrald S. “Bud” AMOS, Jr., 81, of Sunderlinville, PA, died Friday, August 12, 2011 in the Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA, with his loving family by his side.

Born November 8, 1929, in Cheltenham, PA, he was the son of Merrald Sage and Maud Elizabeth Pierson Amos.

On August 5, 1950, in Cheltenham, he married the former Marie T. Chapman, who survives.

In 2000, he retired to his mountain home in Potter County, which he had owned since 1965.  He previously resided in Fox Chase, Cheltenham, Holland, and Buckingham, PA.

Employed in the elevator industry since 1945, he retired as superintendent of United Elevator Co. in Philadelphia in 1992.  He was inducted into the union in 1947 and served as president of IUEC Local #5 from 1967-68.

He was a member of the Golden Rail Club, a union retiree club, life member of the Langhorne Rod & Gun Club since 1966, and a life member of the North South Skirmish Association since 1975.  Bud was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Surviving besides his wife of 61 years, Marie, are:  a daughter, Linda (William) Steele of Sunderlinville;  three sons, Michael Amos of Coudersport, Mark Amos of Upper Black Eddy, PA, and Merrald J. Amos of Pipersville, PA;  nine grandchildren;  and one greatgrandson.

Friends may call at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA on Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM, with Funeral Services following at 11:00 AM.  The Rev. Joseph Dougherty will officiate.  Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to “Cole Memorial Hospital Alzheimer’s Support Group”, Attn: Fund Development Dept., Coudersport, PA 16915.
