Missing DuBois Woman Found Dead

DUBOIS – The search for Ruth C. Ward, 84, of DuBois, who has been missing since sometime around September 4, has ended. Ward was last seen on September 4, when police stopped her without incident.

Ward was found dead at approximately 6 pm on Sunday. Her body was found about 40 yards from her vehicle, which was discovered in a wooded area in Beccaria Township, after a passing motorist spotted her burnt orange Hyundai Elantra, and notified State Police.

It was reported by family members that Ward suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease.

According to the Clearfield Express, Clearfield County Coroner  Joel Heath says there was no evidence of foul play or any trauma. Results from an autopsy performed on Monday are expected within six weeks.

Heath estimates that Ward passed away as the result of natural causes sometime around September 14.
