1 min read

GALETON – State Police in Coudersport say they have arrested the man responsible for breaking into the Galeton and Westfield Police Departments and stealing drugs.

Jason Daniel Morgan, 26, of 225 Lincoln St., Westfield, PA, has been charged with the crime and jailed on $500,000 bail.

State Police say on March 3 they received a request by Galeton Police to assist in the investigation of a burglary at the Galeton Community Building, which houses the Galeton Borough offices and Police Department.

Upon investigation, police discovered that someone had entered the building by breaking a window and then forcing their way into the Borough offices, later gaining access to a secured police evidence room and stealing $180 worth of an unidentified drug.

Police say they soon learned that the Westfield Borough Building/Police Department had also been burglarized.

According to police an investigation determined that Morgan was responsible for both break-ins.

He was arrested and arraigned in front of District Judge Delores G. Bristol and jailed on $500,000 bail.

Morgan has been charged with 2 counts each of Burglary(F2), Possession of a Controlled Substance(M), Theft by Unlawful Taking(M2), Theft by Receiving Stolen Property(M2), and 1 count of Criminal Mischief(S).

Morgan has also been charged with stealing several guns from his stepfather.

Police say the apprehension of Morgan was the result of a concerted investigation by Coudersport-based State Police, Galeton Borough Police, Westfield Borough Police, District Attorney Andy Watson, and the Troop F-Forensic Services Unit.

  1. Good! But I’m wondering why this gets posted on FB when a food service worker from the Galeton School can break-in to her neighbors house, steal prescription drugs, and NOTHING ever hits a paper or CoudyNews!!! And to top it all off, she gets to “RETIRE” from her position! This should be made public. It’s a sad day when you can’t even trust your own neighbor!

  2. Should check your facts people. That individuals story did appear on *another news source* when it happened and she was not allowed to retire. she was terminated from the school position. And no admin that was not the case she was referring to. it was a burglary investigated by galeton borough and the arrest made by the same.

    *Edited for obvious reasons.
