No Federal/State Help Coming For Storm Victims

1 min read

updates2There will not be any state or federal government assistance coming for victims of the Aug. 2 violent weather in Potter County — which included a tornado, straight-line winds and microbursts. Damage reports compiled by townships and boroughs failed to meet the criteria for financial aid to assist affected homeowners, businesses or municipalities. Potter County Department of Emergency Services (DES) had sought assistance from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, U.S. Small Business Administration and Federal Emergency Management Agency. DES officials will confer later this week to determine lessons that have been learned as a result of the disaster and what changes can be made to improve notifications and response. Three Potter County municipalities — Coudersport Borough, Roulette Township and Genesee Township — operated under a state of emergency.
