Oswayo Valley Memorial Library Wants You to Know!

2 min read

The board and staff of the Oswayo Valley Memorial Library would like to thank those that came out to support the library for the soup/sandwich dinner and volleyball game fundraiser that was held last Friday. Because of your support, the faculty and students of Oswayo Valley raised $1568 to support your local library! Thank you to the students and staff who supported the fundraiser with their time, food, raffle items and money; to the community that came out Friday and to the businesses who contributed additional raffle items: Nanipops, Howard’s Home Furnishings, Mineo Marketing, JS & M Maple Products, Tea Rose Cottage Floral Shop, Hair Rock Salon, Jesse Hyde Studios, and Scentsy consultant Tarah Welsh.

The library currently has two raffles taking place. We have an elite Keurig home brewing system that was donated by Keurig (value $152) and a Ka-Bar Tanto Fighting/Utility Knife donated by Ka-Bar (value $102). The Keurig raffle will be drawn on May 9th, just in time for Mother’s Day. The Ka-Bar knife will be drawn on June 13th and would make a great Father’s Day gift. Tickets for both raffles are $2 each or 3 for $5. Stop by the library or see any board member for tickets.

The library’s book discussion group meets the last Wednesday afternoon of each month at 1:30 p.m. The next meeting will be on April 25th and we will be discussing Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie. Stop by the library and pick up a copy. We would love to have you join us!

The Stitch Together Knit and Crochet group meets every Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Bring along your project and join the group. They are always happy to add new members!

We are now accepting registrations for spring story hour. Story hour will be held Friday mornings from 11:00 to noon beginning on April 13th. Topics covered will include cookies, dinosaurs, monkey business and fairy tales. Stop in or call the library at 814-697-6691 to sign up.

March 2012 memorials: Hugh Pearsall from Thelma Swift; Peg Wood from Richard Meacham; Peg Wood from Beverly Cosslett; Hugh Pearsall from Coudersport Area School District; Hugh Pearsall from James & Mary Elwood.

The Oswayo Valley Memorial Library’s board of directors meetings are held on the fourth Monday of every month at 6:00 p.m. The meetings are open to the public.
