Woman flees scene after Route 155 accident

KEATING TWP. – State Police report that Cheryl A. Lewandoski, 45, of Ravenna, OH, was traveling north along Route 155 approximately .2 miles north of Route 607 in Keating Township on October 15 at 9:50 pm, when the 2006 Chrysler Sebring she was driving traveled across the southbound lane and into a ditch along the west side of the roadway. Lewandoski then abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, failing to notify authorities of the accident. The vehicle suffered disabling front-end damage and was towed from the scene by Kightliner Motors. Lewandoski will be charged in District Court 55-3-01 with summary charges of Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic, Unattended Vehicle on Private Property, Depositing Waste and Other Material on Highway – Property or Waterways, Careless Driving, Accidents Involving Damage to Unattended Vehicle or Property, and Immediate Notice of Accident to Police Department.

Galeton man attempts theft at Dollar General

GALETON – State Police report an incident of retail theft that occurred at the Dollar General on West Main Street in Galeton on October 17 at 7:56 pm. According to police Ernie E. Thomas, 28, of Galeton, is accused of placing items inside his coat in an attempt to deprive the merchant of payment. The items totaled $13.60. Thomas was cited on a non-traffic citation with a summary charge of Retail Theft. The charge will be heard in District Court 55-4-03.

Money stolen from Brydonson Farm cash register

COUDERSPORT – State Police report that unknown actor(s) entered the Brydonson Farm maple store located at 592 North Ayers Hill Road in Summit Township sometime between October 15 – 16 and removed an unknown amount of money from the cash register. The investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coudersport-based State Police at 814-274-8690.

Truck suffers disabling damage after hitting deer

ULYSSES TWP. – A Wellsville man’s vehicle suffered disabling damage after striking a deer on Route 6 at 6:50 pm on October 17. Police report that Sean M. Haggerty, 33, of Wellsville, was traveling west on Route 6 in a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, when a deer jumped in front of his vehicle. Haggerty hit the deer and then ran over it, subsequently causing disabling damage to the radiator. Haggerty was then able to safely drive his vehicle to the north berm of the roadway.
