From Potter County Today

More than three years after AES Corporation, announced plans to build an electricity generating plant in northern Potter County using wind turbines on high-altitude farmland, the project is headed for a public hearing on Thursday, July 15, at 6 pm. Ulysses Township Board of Supervisors will hear input from citizens on AES’s plan to erect a network of some 55 turbines on property leased from approximately 20 landowners. The hearing will be held at the Potter County Solid Waste Authority transfer station and recycling center, off Rt. 49, just north of Gold.

Fox Hill Wind Energy Project is still months away from moving forward, as numerous regulatory agencies will be reviewing the plans. AES said its plan calls for towers extending 450 feet from the ground to the farthest tip of the blade. The project covers 10,000 acres, with about 350 acres to be disturbed. Ulysses Township and AES have been negotiating a host agreement which will determine the amount of revenue the township receives.
