Rebert had ties to Coudersport florist
JEFFERSON CO. – A jury has found 46-year-old Steven Rebert guilty of murdering James and Vicky Shugar after two hours of deliberation.
The jury returned a guilty verdict on two counts of Criminal Homicide(H1), two counts of Aggravated Assault(F1), Burglary(F1), Robbery(F1), and Theft(M1).
Rebert murdered the Shugars in their Brockway home in April of 2010.
Jefferson County District Attorney Jeff Burkett is seeking the death penalty in the case.
The court will begin the penalty process beginning on Thursday.
Rebert, a former Coudersport resident and Adelphia employee with ties to the town’s former florist, is also a suspect in unsolved murders in New York state.
