Ridgway Cop Faces Another Trial

1 min read

RIDGWAY – Ridway Borough Police Department Senior Officer and part-time Elk County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Shawn Geci is facing another trial, after additional charges by the PA Game Commission were lodged against the officer on a recommendation by the PA Office of Attorney General.

Geci was charged on April 8, 2011 with two counts of Unlawful Taking or Possession of Game or Wildlife, a second-degree summary offense with a maximum penalty of $800 in fines and one month in prison.

Geci faces a summary trial in District Judge George A. King’s office on May 23 at 1:15 pm.

Geci has been charged four times in the past with similar offenses. In January of this year, Geci was found guilty for hunting from a motorized vehicle and fined $400. He is currently appealing that conviction.

A court date for that appeal has been scheduled for July 19 at the Elk County Courthouse.

  1. They’re worried it’s gonna cost money to replace him as a gun instructor? What kind of police department would want to keep this man as a gun instructor?
