Ruth J. Easton, 85, passed away on Wednesday (Dec. 15, 2010) in her home after a long illness, surrounded by her family.

She was born July 22, 1925, in Berwinsdale, Pa., the daughter of Arthur and Roxanne Bloom Johnston.

On May 15, 1948, in Buffalo, she was married to James Fred Easton Jr., who died on Dec. 24, 2008.

She resided in Buffalo and Jamestown prior to moving to Wellsville in 1970.

She was a graduate of Coalport (Pa.) High School and also the Altoona (Pa.) School of Commerce.

She had been employed by the National Gypsum Corp. in Buffalo and, until retirement, at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.

She was a member of the Christian Temple Church of Wellsville.

She was a member of the Wellsville Lioness Club.

She enjoyed time spent with her family, gardening and playing the organ and was also an avid reader.

She is survived by a son, Roger James (Loretta) Easton of Atlanta, Ga.; daughters, Diane (David) Rapp of Cornelius, N.C., Bonnie (Gary) Limberg of Randolph, and Sharlene Zadrowski of Fort Myers, Fla.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Blanche Schaffer of Summit, N.J.; a brother, Ronald Johnston of Irvona, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and husband, J. Fred Easton.

Friends may call at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville from 1-3 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 18, 2010), at which time services will take place with the Rev. George Herrick officiating.

Burial will be in the Fruit Hills Cemetery in Newport, Pa.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
