Storms Caused Route 44 Crash

1 min read

ABBOTT TWP. – Downed trees in the roadway were the cause of a Route 44 crash on Thursday, May 26 at 7:00 pm.

Police say 25-year-old Curtis J. Dershem, of Lock Haven, was traveling south on Route 44, approximately half a mile north of Ives Hollow Road, when he struck a large tree which was blocking the roadway.

After crashing into the tree, Dershem’s Chevrolet pickup truck struck the right shoulder embankment, which rotated his truck and trailer clockwise, causing the trailer to become detached from the truck.

Dershem and his passenger, 26-year-old Aaron J. Stahl, who were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, were uninjured.
