MIDDLEBURY TWP. – The driver of tanker truck which crashed along Route 287 this morning, was taken to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital in Wellsboro for treatment of head lacerations and minor injuries, according to police.
John Taylor, 35, of Ulysses, was traveling north when his 2001 Peterbilt drove off the roadway. Police say Taylor attempted to correct the truck, but overcompensated, which resulted in the truck spinning counter-clockwise across both lanes of travel and off the western edge of the highway before overturning.
Police said the truck spilled an undetermined amount of diesel fuel as of this afternoon.
An investigation continues.
