Wilbur Arnold HURD, 93, of Galeton, formerly of Westfield, PA, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA.  Born December 24, 1918, in Gurnee, PA, he was the son of Herman and Anna Torrence Hurd.  On July 25, 1941, in Galeton, he married the former Ada P. Mattison, who predeceased him on February 3, 2005.  He was employed by the Cowanesque Valley Iron Works for over 30 years.  He was a member of the Westfield First Baptist Church, the Sabinsville Grange, and served as a volunteer with the Tioga County Foster Grandparent program.  Surviving are:  a son, Richard (Jackie) Hurd of Westfield;  two daughters, Mary (Richard L.) Yonkin and Shari Black, both of Galeton;  six grandchildren;  ten great-grandchildren;  one great-great-grandson;  a sister, Elsie Orlowski of Coudersport, PA;  and nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by seven brothers and two sisters.  Friends may call at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA, on Friday, April 27, 2012 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, with Funeral Services following at 3:00 PM.  Arnold’s grandson, Rev. Brent R. Baker will officiate.  Burial will be in Champlin Cemetery, Westfield.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gale Hose Ambulance, Galeton, PA 16922.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.olneyfuneralhome.com.
