Woman Charged with Falsifying Information to Authorities

GALETON – A Coudersport woman has been charged by State Police with falsifying information.

Forty-one-year-old Karmen S. Barker, of Coudersport, is accused of giving a written statement, and later recanting her story in District Court.

Police say on July 14, 2010, they responded to her residence, at which point she provided a written statement accusing her son of assaulting her.

Barker later provided contradictory testimony at her son’s Preliminary Hearing in August, and admitted to willfully making false statements in July.

State Police today charged Barker with (1)count of False Reports to Law Enforcement Authorities, and (1)count of Unsworn Falsification to Authorities in District Judge Delores G. Bristol’s courtroom.
