Wilbur F. Kennedy, 81, of Galeton, PA, died on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at The Green Home, Wellsboro, PA. Born December 25, 1928, in Wellsboro, he was a son of the late Elias and Elizabeth (Wilson) Kennedy. He was a Veteran, having served with the United States Army in the Korean War. He was married to the former Ruth J. Lovell, who predeceased him on September 27, 2006. Wilbur worked at Corning Glass in Wellsboro for many years. He greatly enjoyed bird watching, animals, being outside, and was the master of “puttering around”. Surviving are five sons, Walter (Paula) of Morgantown, WV, William (JoAnn) of Littlestown, PA, John (Catherine) of New Oxford, PA, James of Galeton, and Robert (Candy) of Thomasville, PA; a daughter, Vickie Hurst of Galeton; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three brothers, Calvin of Coudersport, PA Richard (Gerry) of Wellsboro, Leroy (Sandy) of Middlebury, PA, and Richard (Gerry) of Wellsboro; two sisters, Jean Ingram of Wellsboro and Ruth Wilkins of Covington, PA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Wilbur was predeceased by two sons, Scott and Wilbur, Jr. Friends may call at the Hess Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Collins Chapel, Galeton, on Friday, November 26, 2010 from 6:00-8:00pm and on Saturday, November 27, 2010 from 11:30-12:30pm, with Funeral Services following at 12:30pm. The Rev. Lynn Geiser will officiate. Interment will be made in the Germania Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
