$260 Million Pipeline to Create 375 Jobs

1 min read

National Fuel planning to install 82 miles of 24-inch gas pipeline

The plan, known as the Overbeck to Leidy project, would entail constructing a pipeline that begins near Weedville and ends at Leidy. It would stretch through Elk, Jefferson, Clearfied, Cameron and Clinton counties.

They say the pipeline is essential for transporting the large amounts of gas being produced by marcellus shale gas drilling, and it will provide a reliable supply of energy to western Pennsylvania.

The project would be a $260 million investment into the local area and would create 375 jobs.

Work on the project began last fall, but it is still in the planning stages. There are still several hurdles, including approval from FERC.

National Fuel expects the final application approval sometime in August 2011, with construction beginning in May 2012. They expect the line to be operational by November 2012.
