85-Yr-Old Man Jailed after Attacking Assisted Living Resident with Board

Argument over television turns physical at assisted living home

TIOGA CO. – An 85-year-old resident of Country Terrace Assisted Living in Tioga County has been arrested and jailed on charges of aggravated assault after he allegedly beat a 77-year-old resident with a 3 foot board.

State Police in Mansfield say Wilson B. Doran pulled a 1″ x 4″ board, approximately 3-feet-long, from under his bed and struck Kenneth Whitney several times about the upper torso and head.

Police said the assault was the result of a verbal confrontation over Whitney playing his television too loud.

Whitney was taken to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital where he was treated for injuries and released.

Doran was arrested and remanded to the Tioga County Prison awaiting a Preliminary Arraignment.

The incident took place last night at approximately 10:00 pm, according to police.
