Elmira man charged with aggravated assault after pulling rifle on crowd

COUDERSPORT – State Police have released details in the altercation that occurred outside the North Woods Tavern early Sunday morning.

According to police the large fight began after Ronald E. Moore, 29, of Port Allegany, made a derogatory racial comment towards Guy F. Eastwood, 28, of Elmira, NY.

Eastwood then confronted Moore, at which point a physical confrontation ensued between Moore and Eastwood. During the confrontation, Moore’s wife, Crystal ‘Buddha’ Moore, 25, of Port Allegany, struck Angela M. Goldberg, 32, of Aliquippa, in the face.

While Moore and Eastwood were fighting, a friend of Eastwood’s, Jamel A. Lawson, 33, of Elmira, NY, entered the physical altercation in an attempt to aid Eastwood, at which point a large crowd began to form, becoming enraged with both Lawson and Eastwood.

At this point Lawson pulled a rifle from his vehicle and pointed it at the crowd.

George E. Stuckey, 21, of Roulette, attempted to take the rifle from Lawson, at which point Lawson struck Stuckey in the face with the rifle.

Lawson and Eastwood then fled the scene in Goldberg’s vehicle. However, prior to leaving the North Woods parking lot, Jeremy F. Tucker, 24, of Turtle Point, slashed one of the tires on the vehicle they were driving.

The following charges have been filed:

Jamel Lawson, Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Harassment, Disorderly Conduct

Rondald Moore – Simple Assault, Harassment, Disorderly Conduct

Guy Eastwood – Simple Assault, Harassment, Disorderly Conduct

Crystal Moore – Harassment and Disorderly Conduct

  1. I think you do a better job then the other papers, online and off…..any one who does not think so needs to wise up!

Anyone can Copy and paste, LOL

  2. Well lookie there, seems to me it was more like everyone got mad because this Clint Eastwood fellow couldn’t handle a little one on one fight. Racial comment or not seems he shoulda been able to fight man on man if he’s gonna start something with someone because they said something but no his buddy had to jump in huh?

  3. Phil, it looks to me like the person who said something ignorant to this “Clint Eastwood” is the one who started it.

Please explain to me how this Guy started something over “something someone said”, if what this someone said was a racial slur.

I hate to break the news to you, this is NOT the flippen wild west!

  4. I think that it is great that really only one person that was mentioned in the story is from Coudersport, And yet it is Coudersport and one of it Establishments that get torn appart and “we” are the RASIST’S… also I thought that we chased all the rsist ppl out of the area a cpl of years ago, maybe they are gonna set up another compound, this time keep it in Mckean County.

  5. So your telling me it’s ok to start a fist fight because someone says something? Racial or not?

Guess the next time some honky cuts me off and shots me the finger I can run him off the road and give him a good ol beating then?

And what about his buddy jumping in? Is that ok too because someone made a racial slur?

  6. Seems you all have forgotten that Potter County ran August Kreis and the Aryan Nation off.

If I remember correctly Kries called Potter County, “a cure for racism”.

And yet here everyone is bad mouthing Potter County as usual, labeling us all ‘racists’. Why? Oh we just must be racists, after all this is a rural community.

I hardly think so. The actions of one individual should not reflect upon the community as a whole.

I must say, I got quite a smile after I saw that a black man was the main speaker at the Tea Party rally in Coudersport over the weekend.

I mean after all, haven’t all of you, the same few throwing around the buzzword ‘racist’, accused the local Tea Party of just that?

  7. LoL.. I have to laugh at the comment posted by The Wiseman. Who in Potter County Chased August Kriess off? NO’ONE did! When he was praising the attacks on the World Trade Center. I recall only one person responded back to his stupid propaganda of Hate. The sad thing was the person who responded back to him responded to his comments in the Potter Leader Enterprise, and at the time the kid was incarcerated at the Potter County Jail. Not one individual outside in the free world said a thing to August Kriess otherwise to chase him off.

  8. Hey administrator, in you “investigative journalism” did you miss the fact that “Clint” Eastwood is white and accompanied two black males to the bar. When they attempted to leave the bar is when Clint got isolated by a couple of patrons using slurs. The two black men were alerted to the crowd chants of ” get that “n@@@@r” was heard during “Clints”attack. Jamel attempted to break it up and was also attacked to new chants of “kill those n@@@@rs”. Of course he got a rifle, and tried to gather his friends and escape this lynching. You readers got the watered down version. Read the original story again and see how little sense it makes. Why would a black man in the woods enter a fair fight under the articles circumstances? That was Learned in “lynching prevention 101” they escaped with there lives so I give them an A+

  9. First, the ‘investigative journalism’ remark is in reference to another article, where I stated that we believed Mr. Eastwood was arrested in connection to the incident at the North Woods.

Second, I never referred to Mr. Eastwood as ‘Clint’.

Third, the information here is derived directly from a statement released by the State Police.

    Verbatim from the news release:

“Eastwood confronted Moore. A physical confrontation ensued between MOORE and EASTWOOD. During the confrontation MOORE’S wife, Crystal MOORE, struck GOLDBERG in the face. LAWSON a friend of EASTWOOD attempted to come to the aid of EASTWOOD. A large crowd formed due to the fight and became enraged with LAWSON and EASTWOOD. LAWSON pulled a rifle from his vehicle and pointed it at the crowd….”

  10. Administrator my apologies, whatever, if anything, that means to you. If this is fully reflective of the police report. I was annoyed by what was missing from the report, and some of the comments made by others. With that said, the police report is summarized by all questioned. You have four people, vs an angry lynch mobs account. Angry because a group of blacks had the nerve to show up. They were looking for an excuse , and invented one via racial slurs. They isolated and gang assaulted the white male of the group for being with them. When he was assisted, the mob was even more blood thirsty chanting ” kill those n@@@@rs”. They are lucky to only be hit by the rifle. There is more to the story delivered. I was wrong to assume it was the administrators fault.

  11. No problem 🙂 And your account of the events is more than welcomed. I only wanted to clarify where we got the information from, as there are certain folks that would love to discredit CN 🙂

With that said, thank you very much for your input!

  12. Also, you are correct I believe in your statement regarding the summarized report by the police.

It is very true that the police can only rely on the information and their respective investigative abilities in regards to the incident.

It has been my experience that the Coudersport-based State Police do a more than excellent job of informing the public as to criminal events, and I do believe they provided information in this case to the best of their ability, and with what information they had available at the time.

They also, and I believe rightfully so, did well in releasing the information in a timely manner, which also may account for why the summary is not as detailed as perhaps many would like. There are many law enforcement entities that do provide information in such a timely manner, and so personally, and as a reporter, I am thankful for their service.

Regardless, I am sure more accounts of the events will come out in the wash. After all, this is why we have courts.
