PUNXSUTAWNEY — There doesn’t yet appear to be a link between a suspect and the victims in an April double homicide in Snyder Township, but police said the man charged with their deaths apparently took an interest in a woman who worked in the one victim’s Brockway flower shop.

Michelle Bright, DuBois, was also the person who reached out to the victims’ daughter-in-law when one of the victims, Victoria Shugar, failed to call the flower shop by noon April 12.

In reporting the filing of homicide and related charges against Rebert, Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police and District Attorney Jeffrey Burkett said when Victoria Shugar hadn’t called work, Bright called the cell phone of Shugar’s husband, James, on which there was no answer.

In interviews with police, an affidavit said Bright explained that she operated her own flower shop in Coudersport for about 10 years and got to know Victoria Shugar through the business.

After her shop went out of business, and she and her husband separated, Bright moved to DuBois and worked for the Shugars.

When asked about Rebert, Bright said she got to know him when he showed an interest in flowers.

But she said after she separated from her husband, Rebert’s attitude changed, and he became jealous of other people with whom she hung out. Bright also said after that started making her feel uncomfortable, she distanced herself from him in hopes he would do the same.

Update

Sources tell CoudyNews.com that Michelle Bright was Michelle “Repyneck” before she married and operated the flower shop in Coudersport. She came to Coudersport from the Philadelphia area over a decade ago, before making her home in Coudersport. It is said that Rebert worked for Adelphia as an independent contractor, and frequented the flower shop in Coudersport at that time.
