Panel to Vote on New Drilling Regulations

The Independent Regulatory Review Commission was scheduled this morning to vote on a set of proposed rules by the DEP.

The new standards would include lower maximums for well pressure, would raise the standards for well cement and would require drilling companies to correct any sources of water pollution.

The new rules would also require drilling companies to identify and submit to authorities the amount of chemicals injecting underground at wells.
