Thomas V. MacNamara
2 min readThomas V. MacNamara, 85, of 152 Congress Street, Bradford, formerly of Bucks County, PA, passed away Friday, December 10th, 2010 at The Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born May 30, 1925, in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late William J. and Marie A. MacNamara.
On May 24, 1952 in St. Francis of Assisi Church in Philadelphia, he married Dr. Elizabeth L. MacNamara, a Metallurgist for Frankford Arsenal’s Pittman-Dunn Laboratories who died on September 6, 1996. After the death of his wife, he moved with his son Brian to Bradford.
High School was cut short by his enlistment into the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served with the 93rd Combat Bomb Wing and was awarded 6 Battle Stars, and 1 unit citation during WW II. After returning home from the war he attained a B.S. in Business Administration from La Salle University in 1949. He began his airline career as a Steward for Eastern Airline’s “Silver Fleet”. continuing for four decades with domestic and international airlines in marketing and sales, including Regional Sales Manager for Korean Airlines. Prior to his retirement, he was the Cargo Sales Manager of Zantop Airlines. His friends will remember his love for singing, care for people and his sense of humor.
Surviving is one daughter, Ann E. (Michael) Burke of Riverside NJ, two sons, Thomas V. MacNamara of Fairless Hills PA, and Brian J. MacNamara of Bradford, one brother, William J. MacNamara of Brigatine NJ. three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother Raymond E. MacNamara.
At the family’s request there will be no visitation. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Military Honors will be accorded and burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Philadelphia.
