Williamsport Mayor: Prison Prepare to be Filled

Police believe 4 shootings related

According to the Williamsport Sun Gazette, police believe the four recent shootings in Williamsport, that left one man dead, are related.

The paper also reports that all four victims have criminal records, and were either on parole or probation at the time:

Abraham Edwards, 18, reportedly was out on bail for a rape accusation when someone shot him at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 12 in the 800 block of Memorial Avenue.

Kalif Abney, 24, was on parole for a robbery conviction when he was shot at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday inside 1214 W. Fourth St.

Terence L. Speller, 33, died at an area hospital soon after he was shot just before 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of High Street. Speller reportedly was on parole for formerly fleeing and eluding police.

Quaydee Blackwell, 17, was on juvenile probation for unspecified misdemeanor offenses when someone shot him just before 4 p.m. Friday at Fifth and Rural avenues.

The Sun Gazette goes on to quote Willaimsport Mayor Gabriel J. Campana as saying,

They’re thugs. That’s what they are. They’re not choir boys.”

and,

The beds at the prison need to prepare themselves because it is our intention to fill it up.”

Police have several people in custody and expect to have several more in the near future.
