Several Options For Buying 2011 Dog Licenses
1 min readFrom Potter County Today
Dog owners in Potter County have the option of buying their 2011 dog licenses over the counter at the County Treasurer’s office, through the mail, or directly through the internet. The office is located in the F.W. Gunzburger County Office Building, 1 North Main Street, in Coudersport (use Main Street entrance; first office on right). Applications can be downloaded from the county’s website and mailed to the office. A link to the site for online purchases of dog licenses is also available at the county website here (under Departments click “Treasurer’s Office”).
For online license sales via credit card, there is a $2.00 fee. The treasurer’s office will receive automatic notification of online orders and will mail the tags to owners generally within one to two working days. One benefit of the online purchasing is the fact that police agencies and dog law enforcement officers have access to the online database to facilitate return of lost dogs through license numbers. Owners of lost pets can upload a picture and information.
An annual license for all dogs three months or older is required by state law as of Jan. 1. Discounts of $2.00 per license are available for older adults and people with disabilities. Lifetime licenses must be purchased in person at the Treasurer’s Office.
