2 min readWilliam F. White 84, of 4 Chris Drive Bradford, passed away Thursday February 3, 2011 in Gloucester VA where he had been residing these last few years.
Born August 4, 1926, in Bradford he was a son of the late Floyd C. White & Edna Marilyn Chase Luense.
On April 17, 1948 in the Wesleyan Church in Bradford he married Dorothy E. “Dot” (Means) White who died on May 7, 2004.
He had worked as a supervisor in the armor department at Dresser Manufacturing Company.
He is a member and past master of Union Lodge #334 F & AM, member and past high priest of the Bradford Royal Arch Chapter 260, member and past Thrice Illustrious Master for Council of Royal and Select Master Masons # 43, member and Past Eminant Commander of Trinity Commandry #58 Knights Templar, and a 32degree member of the Coundesport Consistory, and a member of the York Rite Collage. He was a member and Past Worthy Patron of the Bradford Chapter #61 of the Order of the Eastern Star. He was a Troop leader with Troop 5 of the Boy Scouts of America, he started the Explorers Post at the 6th Ward School with Troop 5. He received a 50 year service pin from the Boy Scouts of America as well as the Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor in scouting. He was a member of the Bolivar Run Grange #2060 and the Bells & Bows Square Dance Club.
Surviving are two sons: William L. (Janice) White of Gloucester, VA and Gerald L. (Shu C.) White of Marysville, CA, five grandchildren: William T. White, Elizabeth E. Duke, Steven A. White, Tressa White, and Jaesin White, nine great grandchildren; Jacob C. Stevens, William A. White, Ethan Duke, Christian A. Duke, Mason Duke, Ayden Duke, Kody White, Tyler White and Austin White., two sisters; Mabel Means of Honeoye, NY and Margaret “Peg” Newton of Syracuse, NY a brother, Edward (Myrt) White of Killbuck, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and three brothers; Walter, James and Donald White.
Friends will be received on Friday February 11, 2011 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. East Main St. where funeral and committal services will be held Saturday February 12, 2011 at 11:00am with Rev. David Bunnell pastor of the Hill Memorial United Methodist Church Parish officiating. Military honors will be accorded after the funeral in the funeral home. Mausoleum Entombment will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
Members of the Bradford Chapter #61 of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge will conduct an Eastern Star service Friday at 3:30pm, Members of Union Lodge #334 F&AM will conduct a Masonic Service at 7:00pm Friday in the funeral home as well.
