Snow Squalls Create Havoc for Drivers

Travelers were met with a challenging drive today, as snow squalls created treacherous driving conditions, resulting in numerous crashes, including a fatal accident on Denton Hill.

What would turn out to be a busy day for emergency responders, began at 9:17 am this morning when Coudersport fire, Medic 6, and Sweden Township police were dispatched for a rollover accident on Route 6 in Eulalia Township (pictured above).

The driver of that vehicle was transported to Charles Cole Memorial Hospital by Coudersport ambulance.

A half hour later, at 9:43 am, emergency personnel were called to the Eulalia Cemetery (Cemetery Curve) for traffic control. Multiple vehicles had been reported off the roadway there.

Minutes later emergency personnel were called to the scene of a head-on collision on Denton Hill.

Emergency responders were also called out for a disabled tractor trailer on Route 44 in Summit Township, and two crashes that both resulted in injuries, one on Route  449  in Brookland, and another on Kings Run Road in Ceres Township.

If a morning full of crashes wasn’t enough, a house fire in Ulysses this afternoon resulted in multiple fire departments being called out.

Shortly before 2:30 this afternoon, firefighters from Coudersport, Genesee, Galeton, Ulysses and Harrison Valley were called to a house fire on Academy Street in Ulysses.

By 5:00 pm Coudersport Fire had returned to their stations. Chief Phelps told CoudyNews that fire crews did an excellent job of extinguishing the blaze.
