Rep. Mundy Calls for Drilling Moratorium

PA State Rep. Phyllis Mundy, D-Kingston, will introduce three new pieces of legislation this week setting restrictions on where gas wells can be drilled.

The legislation would restrict gas wells from being drilled within 2,500 feet of primary water supply sources, and also calls for a moratorium on issuing new gas well permits.

Mundy said the gas well industry has a head start on the state legislators and it’s time to take a pause so that the government can catch up.
