Williamsport Man Dies in Industrial Accident
1 min readWILLIAMSPORT – A Williamsport man is dead following an industrial accident in Old Lycoming Township this morning at around 8:30 am.
According to the Sun Gazette, 21-year-old Darryl E. Richards was killed after he became trapped in an auger at Eastern Wood Products.
Richards, who was working alone with the auger, was grinding up scrap wood for an incinerator when something became trapped in the machinery. While attempting to free the object, his clothing became entangled in the machinery, pulling him into the auger.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say work on the auger will not be permitted until officials from OSHA have performed an inspection.
