Quick Thaw Creating Ice Jams, Flooding
1 min readPeople are everywhere outdoors today – soaking up the sun and enjoying the warmth as much as possible before cold temperatures move back into the forecast – but this brief bout of warm weather is proving problematic for some.
A winter full of snow and ice has met up with warm temperatures the past two days, creating some hazardous conditions.
Frozen rivers are thawing and ice jams are forming, forcing water over bridges in many areas.
Those traveling in the northern portion of Tioga County on Route 287 have been advised that an ice jam beneath the Mitchel Creek bridge has forced water over the roadway.
PennDOT is currently sending personnel to the scene.
