Editor’s Note: I’m sure there will be more than one reader who questions why I published this article, so allow me to address that now. There is undoubtedly a major epidemic of prescription pill abuse among the youth in our area. Most people do not know how frequently this sort of thing actually happens around here, because the information is never released to the public. This is helping no one. I published this article in hopes to draw much needed attention to a major problem. How can we begin to address a problem if we are not fully aware of the problem itself?

Potter County District Attorney Andy Watson, in conjunction with the PA State Police, has announced participation in this year’s ‘Take Back Day’, a program which allows anyone to properly dispose of old prescription medication free of charge. Please consider participating in this program, and keeping prescription medications locked away safe. For more information on ‘Take Back Day’ click here.
