Austin’s Senior Citizens Luncheon April 18
2 min readThe monthly Senior citizens luncheon will be held on Monday, April 18th at Noon in the Austin Methodist Church social rooms, Turner Street.
Program following lunch will be presented by August Busch who may present American Folk, Bluegrass and/or Old Time Gospel Music.
August’s love for music goes back to early childhood, when as a toddler he sat on the floor next to a phonograph listening to his dad’s Classical music collection. His music brings people together, skillfully entertains, and uses modern acoustical techniques to celebrate the great music of America’s past. This is his favorite genre, the music he plays best and took him the longest to perfect. By performing it he also hopes to inspire people to learn and play live music again, the way we used to before we had electronic devices to create our fun for us.
According to a spokesperson, he played 5-string banjo while serving in the US Army in the 1960s and in 1975 he started traveling as a bass player with Jack and Lera Niman, who sang Gospel music for central Pennsylvania audiences and later traveled the eastern US with The Four Fold Gospel Quartet and he taught acoustical instrument playing for about 5 years. Later he played bass in Classic Rock and Country & Western dance bands around Penn State University and traveled with the legendary Bobby Freeman playing R&B and Delta Blues in Memphis and Las Vegas. August now lets all of his experiences influence his music.
