Regional Summer Youth Employment Program Discontinued

Government funding cuts have eliminated hundreds of summer job opportunities for youths in Potter and surrounding counties. The information was shared earlier this month with members of the North Central Workforce Investment Board. During previous summers, teenagers and young adults had been put to work in public, community and private sector short-term jobs, but cutbacks in federal and state allotments for the program have resulted in its demise.

These youth will have nothing to do now but roam the streets and parks.
