Coudersport Native Josh Kinney back in Major League Baseball

Coudersport native and Port Allegany graduate Josh Kinney is back in Major League Baseball.
Kinney, who won a World Series Championship ring in 2006, struggled in the major leagues after undergoing reconstructive surgery on his elbow in 2007.
In January of 2011, Kinney signed a deal with the Chicago White Sox. On August 19 he was called up to replace Philip Humber, who was placed on the disabled list after being struck in the head with a line drive.
Born in Coudersport on March 31, 1979, Kinney began his professional baseball career after he signed as a free agent in June, 2001 with the River City Rascals; an independent Frontier League.
Kinney then spent five years playing in various leagues, before beginning his Major League debut in 2006 with the St. Louis Cardinals, who went on to win the World Series. Kinney pitched in two of the four World Series games against the Detroit Tigers.
On August 19, Kinney pitched 3 innings against the Texas Rangers, striking out 6 batters with an ERA of 0.00.
On August 24 Kinney pitched 2 innings against the Los Angeles Angels, striking out 2 batters with an ERA of 1.80.
The White Sox are scheduled to play the Seattle Mariners today at 10:10 p.m.
