The statue is also a tribute to modern forest management practices that can be traced to the mid-20th century. Funding came from the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum Associates, Galeton Rotary, Pennsylvania Lumber Heritage Region and private donors, including the Dominion Foundation.
Also scheduled for dedication Sunday is a replica of a still built to distill birch oil from birch bark. These were used to make birch beer and other products, The program will conclude at 1 pm with an update on the Lumber Museum expansion.
